Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Albalawi, announced the resumption of Saudi Airlines’ flight operations from Jeddah to Abuja, scheduled for either June or January 2027. During a courtesy visit to Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Albalawi emphasized strengthening Saudi-Nigerian relations across various sectors, including economic, political, and security domains. He committed to supporting Nigerian pilgrims traveling for Umrah and Hajj and aimed to collaborate with the ministry and media to rectify misconceptions about Saudi Arabia.

Minister Idris acknowledged the visit’s importance, highlighting the strong ties between both nations. He affirmed Nigeria’s eagerness to enhance cooperation with Saudi Arabia, particularly in economic and security fields. The Nigerian government has signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Saudi Arabia, including news exchange between the News Agency of Nigeria and the Saudi Press Agency, collaboration in radio and television between the Nigerian Television Authority and Saudi Broadcasting Authority, and cooperation in audiovisual media with the respective regulatory bodies in both countries.

Plans are underway for an upcoming meeting between Minister Idris and his Saudi counterpart to further reinforce these agreements.
